To give you the smoothest, safest, and most reliable charging experience, the Virta app needs your smartphone to run on a minimum operating system (OS). Keeping your device updated ensures you can easily start charging sessions, access real-time charger status, and enjoy all the latest app improvements designed for EV drivers on the go.
Minimum OS Versions Supported
To keep the Virta app running at its best during your charging journeys:
- iPhone / Apple: iOS 15 or newer
- Android: Android 8.1 (Oreo) or newer
How to Check Your OS Version
- On iPhone: Settings → General → About
- On Android: Settings → About Phone → Software Information
A quick check helps make sure your device is ready for reliable charging whenever you are.
If Your Device Is Running an Older OS
If your phone’s OS is below iOS 15 or Android 8.1:
- You may not be able to download the newest Virta app updates
- New EV-focused features won’t be available
- Important security protections won’t reach your device
- Eventually, older app versions will stop working
We want every charging session to be smooth and stress-free, unsupported devices simply can’t guarantee that.
What to Do if Your OS Is Out of Date
To stay ready for every road trip, commute, or late-night top-up:
Update Your OS
- iPhone: Settings → General → Software Update
- Android: Settings → System → System Update (Paths may vary depending on your device.)
If Your Phone Can’t Update
Some older devices are no longer eligible for the required OS versions. If that’s the case, upgrading your phone is the best way to ensure you can keep using the Virta app with full functionality, security, and charging reliability.
Think of it as keeping your tech as road-ready as your EV.
How Often Does Virta Update Its Minimum OS?
We review our OS requirements periodically, typically on an annual basis. As Apple and Google release new versions and phase out older systems, we update our requirements to keep your charging experience modern, secure, and dependable.
